Default Mesmer-anticasting

The last few days i have focussed on reading many threads regarding the "best" attributes (Mesmer) for anti-casting. One thing i think is clear: Arcane conundrum is very nice... SO i see lot's o people making builds with lot's of points in Illusion and Inspiration for the energy. They use arcane conundrum and then mostly go for interrrupting spells, the inspiration line has 2 interrupts i think (Power drain and the signet thingy), both with long recharge (25s and 45s). You can't go interrupting everything you see i presume so wouldn't it be better to go energy denial rather then to make his casting times longer? Even with the domination line instead of the inspiration line, you would still have to dedicate a lot of slots to interrupting... Am i misjudging the strategy or am i forgetting that gw is a teamthingy ?
Or if you would go with a ranger/mesmer build with the normal expertise/marksmanship and for the mesmer part go illusion (arcane conundrum), WOuld this change annything to the interrupting part (if you would use distracting shot with 10s recharge)?

Hello, interrupting as Mesmer is quite fun...but it totally depends on what type of "interrupter" do you want to be.

I played a pure energy-denial build and I had some success in PvP and GvG...that is, until people found out how annoying I am and start to target-call on me instead

The most important thing to remember as an interrupter is picking the correct spell to interrupt. Interrupting Meteor Shower, Healing Seeds, Rez etc is good...but spending effort in interrupting Flare, Orison is stupid, if you interrupt one, they'll just cast it again.

One advantage of R/Me is that you are less suceptable to caster-hate. Happened to me several times in Tombs....while I'm concentrating on making enemy monk miserable (i'm Me/N fyi), their mesmer starts casing Conundrum/Backfire on ME and shut me down. But with R/Me, timing your arrow interrupts like Concussion/Savage Shots is harder because you have to factor in your arrow travelling time. An Me interrupt is superior in the sense that casting is almost instantaneous.

I was looking into a build where the r/me would echo debilitating shot and spam a target with mana drain i think this would be even more effective than the mesmers mana drain and with expertise it wouldn't be that expensive. could even throw in mindwrack for some extra damage.

If I were to use arcane conundrum i would also pick up migrane and stack them both then use concusion shot if they tried to cast through it. Which would pretty much shut down a caster unless they used alot of hex or condition removal. The downside and why i like going energy denial instead is that you have to have a ton of expertise to use concusion shot since its extreamly expensive and energy drain cannot be dispelled where as this can.
